Open House at the Hutchinson Homestead & Learning Center, THIS Saturday, July 11, 10am-3pm

Summer is a beautiful time at the Hutchinson Homestead! Join Guidestone Colorado THIS Saturday, July 11, 10am-3pm, at the Hutchinson Homestead & Learning Center for a festive day of tours and family activities. Activities throughout the day will include interpretive exhibits and the new welcome video in the Visitor Center, guided tours of the Homestead buildings and grounds, and hands-on traditional crafts for children. We will be making hand-spun wool bracelets and have an old-fashioned laundry station set up from 10am-12pm, followed by hand-cranked ice cream making from 12-1pm. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the lawn over the lunch hour, with homemade ice cream for dessert, to be served at 1pm! Also at 12pm, Colleen Perschbacher of Older Than Dirt Construction will host a tour highlighting preservation work at the site. Suggested donation for adults is $5, children are free. The Hutchinson Homestead & Learning Center is located at 8913 W. Hwy 50, on the north side of the road, halfway between Salida and Poncha Springs.

The Hutchinson Homestead & Learning Center, open Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-2pm, is operated by Guidestone Colorado and is a partnership between Guidestone Colorado, Salida Area Parks, Open Space and Trails, the Hutchinson Family and the Town of Poncha Springs. Guidestone Colorado is growing a vibrant local food economy in Colorado through education, community building and partnerships.
