Badger Flats Habitat Restoration Volunteer Event

SEPTEMBER 12 - 13th, 2015

The Colorado Mountain Club will partner with the South Park Ranger District to continue work on the Badger Flats Habitat Restoration Project, in Pike National Forest. This unique area has been growing in popularity but an extensive network of user-created routes (roughly 250 miles) is destroying native vegetation and fragmenting local wildlife habitat. CMC is working closely with the Forest Service to mitigate recreational impacts and provide safe, sustainable, and responsible access for users and the surrounding natural resources.

Volunteer crews will help address wildlife habitat degradation by closing non-system roads and trails. Work is suitable for all abilities and will include installing signs, constructing natural barriers & fences, re-seeding and transplanting vegetation.

Project work will take place from 9am - 3pm Saturday and 9am - 3pm Sunday. Camping is available and food will be provided by CMC. Volunteers may participate on one or both days.
