Salida Council for the Arts invites everyone with an interest in the arts to attend its monthly "Creative Mixer" Thursday, October 8 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery. The free public gathering is a popular venue for artists, writers, musicians, and other creatives to meet and socialize on a casual basis.

The event's featured guest artist will be Salida painter Susan Spohn, whose exhibition titled "Interconnected" is on display at the SteamPlant through October 31. Susan invites viewers to study these paintings and see the interconnectedness within. “It reminds me that we might all be considered individual paint strokes, coming together to form a unique pattern, adding our color, movement and texture to the whole of the planet,” she says.

Featured musician at the Creative Mixer will be local singer/songwriter Michael Tatum, who moved here from Georgia about a year ago. Michael's background is in counseling and administration with the Veteran's Administration. He has been writing songs since early adolescence, loves to work in his recording studio, and enjoys playing with other musicians.

Free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; and guests are invited to use the popular "soapbox" time to make announcements of interest. Salida Council for the Arts is an all-volunteer organization working for the betterment of the arts, artists, and community of Salida. For more information visit
