Election Activities Begin to Increase
Ballots for the November 3, 2015 Coordinated Election will start arriving in mailboxes the week of October 12-16. Ballots will be sent to all active registered voters in Chaffee County. If you do not receive a ballot or you are not sure about your voter registration information please contact the Clerk and Recorder’s office at 719-539-4004. You can also check or update your voter registration status online at www.GoVoteColorado.com.

New this year: Two (2) 24 hour a day, 7 days a week Ballot Drop Boxes in both Salida and Buena Vista. The boxes will be open starting October 13, 2015 and will remain open till 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2015. These boxes have video surveillance and ballots will be picked up at least once per day from the boxes. The Salida 24/7 box is located curbside at the main Clerk’s office at 104 Crestone Avenue and the Buena Vista 24/7 box is located outside the Motor Vehicle Branch office at 112 Linderman Avenue.
Important Dates to Remember: Monday, October 12-16, 2015 – Ballots will be mailed to all active eligible electors.
Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. – Salida Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC)opens at the main County Clerk’s office. Voters can register to vote, obtain a replacement mail ballot, update information, vote on an accessible machine, or vote a flat ballot in person.
Tuesday, October 13, 2015 the 24 hour a day, 7 day a week drop-boxes will open in Salida and Buena Vista and will remain open till 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3rd. The Salida box is curbside at the main County Clerk’s office and the Buena Vista drop box is located outside the Motor Vehicle Branch Office at 112 Linderman Avenue.
Monday, October 26, 2015 - The Buena Vista VSPC will be open 8:00a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Voters can register to vote, obtain a replacement mail ballot, update information, vote on an accessible machine, or vote a flat ballot in person.
Saturday, October 31, 2015 – The Salida VSPC and the Buena Vista VSPC will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 3, 2015 – ELECTION DAY. Salida VSPC and the Buena Vista VSPC will be open from 7:00a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Outside drop-boxes will also be closed at 7:00 p.m. Return you mail ballots, with appropriate postage ($0.49) or hand deliver ballots to the Chaffee County Clerk’s office, the Buena Vista Motor Vehicle Branch office or our outside 24/7 drop-boxes at both locations. Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2015. Post mark dates do not count if the ballot is received after November 3, 2015.
