Symphonic Salida's 2015-16 Colorado Symphony concert season kicks off on Thur. Oct. 29 with what organizers are calling a "blockbuster": a string quartet performance headlined by celebrated harpist Courtney Bress and renowned Cellist Judith Galecki.

The concert will begin at 7:30 pm in the Salida SteamPlant, with doors opening at 7 pm. Advance tickets are $18, and may be purchased at, the SteamPlant Box Office, and the Salida Chamber of Commerce. Tickets at the door will be $20 for adults, $10 for students.

Joined by Colorado Symphony artists Allegra Wermuth and Dorian Kincaid on violin and Phillip Stevens on viola, the musicians will present an exciting variety of music by both classical and contemporary composers. The evening's program is expected to feature "Prelude for the Harp" by Ellis Schuman; "Chanson d'Amour" by Gabriel Faure; Danses Sacrée et Profane" by Claude Debussy; "String Quartet" by Maurice Ravel; and "Baroque Flamenco" by Deborah Henson-Conant.

Grammy-nominated recording artist Courtney Bress has been Principal Harpist with the Colorado Symphony since 2001. She has performed with symphony orchestras around the world, including Singapore, Chicago, Baltimore and many more. She was selected to perform for the American Harp Society and the World Harp Congress; and has toured throughout America playing concerts as Principal Harp with the distinguished U.S. Army Field Band of Washington DC.

Cellist Judith Galecki began playing violin at age four and switched to the cello at seven. Prior to joining the Colorado Symphony, she played in some of the world's greatest concert halls as Principal Cello of Switzerland's Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. She has performed with the orchestras of Detroit, Toronto, and Windsor, Ontario; and at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Grand Teton and Steamboat Springs Music Festivals, and the Verbier Festival.

For the fourth year in a row, Salida is honored to be the only community outside of Denver chosen for performances by the Colorado Symphony. The concerts are organized by the local Symphonic Salida Steering Committee, and presented by KHEN Community Radio. For more information, visit
