Join LTUA to support wildlife protection during Central Colorado nature-a-thon

The Land Trust of the Upper Arkansas is getting ready to host an annual event to raise funds for local wildlife protection.

LTUA’s Central Colorado Nature-a-thon presents an opportunity for volunteers to get involved in identifying multiple local wildlife species while raising money to protect their habitat.

Team members find as many bid, mammal, fish, reptile and amphibian species as possible in a 24-hour period during the designated week, May 14-22. Before they search, teams raise pledges and donations to support the fundraiser and competition.

Participants can create their own teams or join an existing one by calling the LTUA office at 539-7700.

The Land Trust works on multiple projects that benefit wildlife, including habitat for lynx, moose, elk, bighorn sheep, black bear, cougar, waterfowl, raptors, songbirds and trout.

To make a pledge or donation, and for details about how to participate in the event, visit Donations also can be mailed to LTUA, P.O. Box 942, Salida, CO 81201.
