Symphonic Salida "Drums and Dynamite" performs May 4
Master percussionists from the Colorado Symphony Orchestra will close Symphonic Salida’s fifth season with a dynamic, inventive performance on drums of every variety. “Drums and Dynamite” is slated for the Salida SteamPlant at 7:30 PM on Thursday, May 4 through the ongoing partnership between KHEN 106.9 FM Community Radio’s Symphonic Salida project, and the Colorado Symphony. “We’re thrilled to close our fifth season with such an exciting performance,” said Scott Adams, who heads the Symphonic Salida steering team. The performance features Colorado Symphony master percussionists Steve Hearn, John Kinzie and Michael Van Wirt playing 50-plus instruments including the marimba, gongs, bells, vibraphones, tambourines, even trash cans. “This is classical music’s wild side,” Adams said. “It’s a fun, family-friendly event.” Salida is the only city beyond the Front Range to host regular visits by the Colorado Symphony. "Drums and Dynamite” is the fourth concert of Symphonic Salida's 2016/2017 season.
