​Upcoming Salida Recreation Events and Classes for September 2017

SALIDA IS HOME TO THE 6th ANNUAL SALIDA BIKEFEST! Salida BikeFest takes place Sept. 14-17, 2017. This four day festival celebrates bicycles of all kinds! Various groups in Salida have teamed up to create and promote unique and fun bike events throughout the week including free group rides, a bike-related travelogue presentation, a chainless race, kids bike decorating and bike parade, free live music at our kickoff party, plus much more! JIVE AND DIVE! Friday, September 8 from 7 to 9pm, middle schoolers ONLY pool party, $5 drop-in fee.

POOL CLOSURE! The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center will be closed beginning September 18, 2017 for 6-8 weeks as we work on a major lap lane renovation and our bi-yearly maintenance and cleaning. All active passes will be extended for shutdown time PLUS compensated for 1 extra month! Please call or check our website for updates.

CAMP FRIDAY: FITNESS GAMES, NATURE WALKS, MUSIC & ARTS EXPLORATION! Salida Recreation is partnering with GARNA, Guidestone, Articipate, Maverick Potter and Salida Creativity Lab and more to encourage artistic, musical, natural, scientific and physical exploration. Fridays, Sept. 22 through Nov. 17, 9am-2pm, cost $5/person/day, ages 5-8. Preregistration is required. No drop-ins accepted. All registrations and liability waivers must be completed at the Aquatics Center. Locations/themes subject to change. Please view full schedule at www.salidarec.com. FUN FALL FRIDAY FIELD TRIPS! During the pool closure, Salida Recreation is ready to take your kids on some Friday adventures this fall. We have five field trips planned - September 29 we will go to Captain Zipline and exlpore the Lost Canyon Aerial Course; October 6 we will stay in town and head across the street to Rocky Mountain Mini Golf; October 13 we will head over the pass to the Gunisson Community Center; October 20 we will head down south to Hooper Pool and October 27 we will go to the Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience. Please register at least three days prior to Friday field trip. All participants must have a completed liability waiver on file at the Aquatic Center. Payment must be made at time of registration. No Drop-ins accepted. Youth scholarship funds may be used for any Salida Recreation field trip. SEEKING TRAVELOGUE PRESENTERS! Have you gone on a trip lately that you can’t wait to share with your community? Our Travelogue series is starting back up this month and we need you! Travelogue presenters will coordinate with Salida Recreation and Salida Steamplant staff in putting together a slideshow or other audio visual production, marketing efforts and scheduling.
