Upcoming Salida Recreation Events and Classes for September 2017

POOL CLOSURE! The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center will be closed beginning September 18, 2017 for 6-8 weeks as we work on a major lap lane renovation and our bi-yearly maintenance and cleaning. All active passes will be extended for shutdown time PLUS compensated for 1 extra month! Please call or check our website for updates.

GOUND BREAKING FOR NEW TENNIS/PICKLEBALL COURTS! The community is invited to the ground breaking of the new tennis/pickleball courts Monday, September 18, 2017 at 3pm. The new courts will be located on the east side of the Aquatics Center, 410 W Hwy 50. Mayor Jim LiVecchi and Salida City Council along with representatives from the Parks & Recreation Board, Salida Tennis Club, Peak to Peak Pickleball Club, Salida Recreation and Salida Public Works will be present with shovels for the first dig. Salida Recreation wants to thank the following organizations for making this project possible: Great Outdoors Colorado, The Colorado Lottery, Chaffee County, the City of Salida, Salida Tennis Club, Peak to Peak Pickleball Club and the many volunteers and community supporters.

CAMP FRIDAY: FITNESS GAMES, NATURE WALKS, MUSIC & ARTS EXPLORATION! Salida Recreation is partnering with GARNA, Guidestone, Articipate, Maverick Potter and more to encourage artistic, musical, natural, scientific and physical exploration. Fridays, Sept. 22 through Nov. 17, 9am-2pm, cost $5/person/day, ages 5-8. Preregistration is required. No drop-ins accepted. All registrations and liability waivers must be completed at the Aquatics Center. Locations/themes subject to change. Please view full schedule at www.salidarec.com. SALIDA CREATIVITY LAB AND SALIDA RECREATION PRESENT ART & IMAGINATIONR FRIDAYS! Eplore your imagination as you paint, draw, assemble, and create with Salida Creativity Lab on Fridays this fall. Come dressed for painting and creativity in this fun mixed media class. Fridays, September 22 through October 20, 9am-12pm, ages 7-10, $10 per class. Sign up for all five Fridays or just the ones that fit your schedule. Preregistration is required. No drop-ins accepted. All registrations and liability waivers must be completed at the Aquatics Center. Payment must be made at time of registration. Youth scholarships available. FUN FALL FRIDAY FIELD TRIPS! During the pool closure, Salida Recreation is ready to take your kids on some Friday adventures this fall. We have five field trips planned - September 29 we will go to Captain Zipline and exlpore the Lost Canyon Aerial Course; October 6 we will stay in town and head across the street to Rocky Mountain Mini Golf; October 13 we will head over the pass to the Gunisson Community Center; October 20 we will go to the Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience and October 27 we will head down south to Hooper Pool. All field trips will meet, leave from and return to the Centennial Park Pavilion. All participants must pre-register and have a completed liability waiver on file at the Aquatic Center. Payment must be made at time of registration. Youth scholarship funds may be used for any field trip.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION: While the pool is closed we will have staff answering phones for questions and registrations Tues-Thurs, 10am-2pm. Please call during these times to register or use the registration form at salidarec.com/register. Mail to 410 W Hwy 50, Salida, CO 81201 with a check written to City of Salida.
