Ark Valley High Rollers Host Chili Cook-Off & Mix Up Bout - Saturday, September 30th @ 4pm
Chili + Roller Derby = Pure Awesome!!!
Begin your evening by filling your bellies on some of the best chili on both sides of the Arkansas River made from our cook-off contestants for $5; includes cornbread, chili tastings and voting eligibility (while chili lasts). Serving starts at 4pm, stops at 6pm and the Mix-Up Bout directly after at 6pm.
Interested in cooking up your own pot and vying for the best chili around? A $20 entry fee will get you entered into the cook-off, a ticket to the bout (directly after cook-off), one beer and a chance to earn amazing prizes! There will be three categories to win from: Red, Green and People's Choice. Prizes have been generously donated from Monarch Mountain, Wood's High Mountain Distillery, Melanzana, Soulcraft Brewing, Brady's West and more! YUM YUM! Then, make your way trackside to watch the spicy action as skaters battle it out in this HOT Mix-Up Bout - Jala"PAIN"o Poppers vs. Cornbread Crushers! Doors open at 5pm with the first whistle at 6pm. Debuting in their first bout is the freshest of AVHR homegrown skaters, Chewbecca and Psych Ward! Come give some warm derby love to these skaters!
$10 pre-sale tickets available at Moonlight Pizza, Cafe Dawn. $12 tickets available at the door. Free admission for children 10 and under.
A portion of sales will be donated to Central Colorado Conservancy. Central Colorado Conservancy is committed to conserving the region’s land, water and wildlife by partnering with landowners, agricultural producers and the community.
Concessions will be on hand with a bake sale and libations for those 21 and older. Also, there will be a craft sale with items made with love from AVHR skaters.
Afterparty will be directly after the bout at Wood's High Mountain Distillery in beautiful downtown Salida! Come on out and spend an evening supporting your local roller derby team in the first of two mix-up battles!
