In an emergency meeting on Thursday, the Salida City Council voted to raise City property tax rates by 33% plus an additional $0.32 yearly service fee on each of Salida’s approximately 2500 households.

Ages & Stages is a program that helps parents and service providers identify a child’s skills the areas of speech, interactions with others, movement and motor skills, emotional development, and problem solving. This program also explains how to help children learn these important skills.

Sunshine Week and all it stands for is a positive thing. Yet, I have found myself brought low by certain aspects of it. We have learned to expect lies and half truths in both the private and public sectors of our lives. I find the tension between marketing and truth painful. I wish we demanded more honesty.
