Local roller derby league wins first scrimmage

The Ark Valley High Rollers held their first inter-league scrimmage against the High City Derby Divas of Aurora. After spending an hour battling it out on the track, the rookie league landed a 130-76 win.

Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteers, the Chaffee Shuttle and Full Restorative Justice are sponsoring their annual fundraiser. The “Spud”tacular will be Wednesday, November 3, from 11:00 to 1:30 at the United Methodist Church.

Admissions receptionist Catalina Briatore was honored as Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center’s TRAC STAR of the Third Quarter at a hospital ceremony on October 25.

We are at the end of an election cycle. The content of the ads and the coverage have little to do with what the candidates vision is for our county, state and country. The commercials rarely provide a coherent statement from their candidate.


I suggest we all do the same.

Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity Home Dedication

Come join Chaffee County Habitat and the Jenn Fisher and Cristyl Nuzum families as we dedicate their new homes! Each family will share a time of reflection. Tour these homes after the event, and then join the community for a potluck lunch at First Lutheran Church, 13th and F., in Salida immediately following the ceremony. Holiday Park preparation gears up

Holiday Park, Salida’s heartwarming annual display of trees along the walkways of Riverside Park, is now accepting applications to rent trees to decorate. Proceeds from tree rentals support college scholarships to Salida High School students


Habitat to hold Home Dedications October 30th

The Fisher and Nuzum families are the 7th and 8th recipients of affordable housing and interest-free mortgages though the Chaffee County Habitat affiliate, which plans to reach a total of 13 families by 2013.
