Fire Hydrant Flush(0)

The City of Salida Public Works Department and Water Treatment Plant will be doing a fire hydrant flush Tuesday April 5th and Wednesday April 6th.

As many you witnessed a couple of weeks ago, it appears the spring fire season is already upon us. While we watch the snow fall on the mountains around us, the valley has seen little significant moisture this winter. This newspaper said in an article earlier this week there had been below average moisture for the last 6 months. Don’t let the little bit of snow we received on Monday night fool you. It is really dry.

Rates to be increased for water service(0)

A draft water rate study recently completed by the city’s engineering firm Schmueser Gordon Meyer (SGM) is now available for review on the city’s website. The study indicates rates are well below the required level to pay for the cost of the plant and water system. Alternatives for increasing rates will be considered by the council at the regular meetings scheduled on March 1 and March 15. Public comment may be considered at both meetings; however, the official public hearing will be held as part of the March 15 meeting.

Ever wonder how much water is being used when your sprinkler system runs, or how much water is being used by your teenage daughter taking those long showers?
