Longfellow students earned nearly $600.00 in March by reading. The goal was to earn money to give something back to the community of Salida in appreciation for the new elementary school.

I hope that everyone will be able to take their lunch break this Friday, May 17th and walk or ride your bike downtown and view the plastic bag chain created by the students of the Crest Academy. 12,000 plastic sacks (the number of bags given out every two days by Safeway and WalMart in Salida) will be tied together and stretched up the hill in a great visual demonstration to help us see our wasteful ways.
