Amicas and The Boathouse are donating a portion of their sales to the Healthy Meals 4 Kids (HM4K) Program during this “dine out” event May 1st-4th. In addition, Café Dawn is donating proceeds of their sales on Friday, May 2nd and Moonlight Pizza’s Moonlight Monday on Monday, May 5th will benefit HM4K, a program that helps ensure that all children in Chaffee County have access to healthy meals when school is not in session.

The event, held on March 15, 2014 in Salida promises to be a sellout, with 400 competitors (marathon and half marathon). The course follows dirt/jeep roads and narrow, hilly single-track between 7,000-9,000 feet in and around the Arkansas Hills Trail System.

A fundraiser for local saxophone player Dave “Sparky” Sparkman will be held Sunday, February 23rd at 1 P.M. at the Victoria Tavern. Sparky has been battling throat cancer.

With close to half of the children in Chaffee County on free and reduced lunches and over 4,000 lunches served through the summer food program this summer, Amica’s and LiveWell Chaffee County are partnering with local restaurants and coffee shops to raise the funds needed to cover the addition of Friday lunches and assist with the Mountain Lion backpack program in Salida.
