Chaffee County Search and Rescue-South (CCSAR-S) located a 58-year-old Swissvale man who became stranded near the Blank’s Cabin trailhead Sunday afternoon.
Mysterious poster removed; artist identified, facing charges(15)
A mysterious poster alarmed Salida High School administrators who discovered it on February 5. It was removed by sheriff’s deputies the same day. The poster was attached to a metal building located across the street from the school, and visible from the school entrance as well as many classrooms.

A married couple was found safe Friday afternoon by Chaffee County Search and Rescue volunteers after the two spent an unplanned night on Mount Columbia. Dale Baldridge, 70, and his wife, Joyce Baldridge, 65, visiting from Michigan, made a 911 call at about 5:30pm Thursday saying they were too exhausted to continue their descent from the summit.

Paul Eugene Breer, 81, was arrested at his home Monday morning by detectives from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Salida office of the district attorney.
