While the project as it stands would appear to have little or no impact on both Arkansas River flows and the quality of the fishery, consensus seems to be that there are still too many unknowns for a definitive judgment to be passed.

Two hundred thousand dollars from GOCO and some additional local funds will be used to improve the whitewater park, install climbing boulders and construct a small park and trails near South Main.

Salida Mountain Trails called for volunteers to help build singletrack on Saturday, December 6, 2008. We had a great turnout and our energetic volunteers helped build 1000 feet of new trail. Lots of progress is being made thanks to enthusiastic support from the people of Chaffee County!

Most public discussion about 2B has focused on the local tourism economy. Little, if any, discussion has considered the impact of the different rates on the city’s capacity to fund improvements to recreation and cultural amenities as earmarked in the new tax.
