The Land Trust of the Upper Arkansas is celebrating the ranching tradition in the Valley by screening two films about modern ranching in the American West. The event will take place on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Salida SteamPlant Theater. Admission is free.

The Friends of the SteamPlant will hold auditions for the second annual Central Colorado’s Got Talent Show this weekend. The auditions will be held starting at 4:00 pm on February 18 and 19 in the SteamPlant Event Center Theater. The show features performers from Central Colorado’s most talented 6-to-20-year-olds.

Grammy Award-winning bluesman Alvin Youngblood Hart will perform with Valerie June at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Jan.27, at the SteamPlant Event Center. Described as a musician’s musician, Hart has garnered praise from the likes of Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton. Legendary bluesman Taj Mahal once said of Hart, “The boy has got thunder in his hands.”
