Lowry Land Purchase Completed

Last week the city’s purchase of 80 acres in the Arkansas Hills to the north of the city was finalized.  The mayor, council, city administration and the Lowrys should be commended. This transaction will keep this land open for recreation and wildlife as well as protect the views from our city. The purchase was consistent not only with our comprehensive plan, but also with the intended use of Conservation Trust Fund money, which was employed for the purchase.

High Rollers

The Ark Valley High Rollers, Chaffee County’s flat track roller derby team is seeking community organizations to partner with for the 2014 season.

At each home meet AVHR will present $300 to an area non-profit organization. Applications and requirements to become a partner are on the AVHR web page: - deadline for applications is February 15, 2014.

Progress is never easy but it is always a worthy cause to fight for. LiveWell Chaffee County focuses on policy, environmental and lifestyle changes that remove barriers and increase access to healthy behaviors for citizens of our community. LWCC aims to provide everyone with access to local, healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity in the places they live, work, learn and play. In 2012, LiveWell Chaffee County and its partners made great and successful strides for the people of Chaffee County.
