Vote to Send Elevation Brewery into the Finals of KDVR Brewery Cup

Vote this morning to help Chaffee County’s hometown brewery, Elevation Beer Company, win its semi-final round matchup against an Aurora brewer in KDVR’s Colorado Brewery Cup.

The Cup started a week ago, pitting 200 Colorado brewers in a public voting contest to crown the best brewery in the state. Elevation has been winning each of its matchups handily until yesterday’s quarterfinal when it had a last-minute rally to win by just 34 votes.

Salida Mountain Trails Hosts Volunteer Update Meeting Thursday at Boathouse

Salida Mountain Trails will host a General Volunteer Update Meeting Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the front room of the Boathouse Cantina at the F Street Bridge in downtown Salida.

The meeting will cover a wide array of topics including volunteer needs for specific upcoming projects and events, a brief update on trail project progress on both US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands.

Reminder: Ramsey Lama Fundraiser at Benson’s This Evening

A benefit will be held at Bensons tonight, Thursday Sept. 26, from 4-8 p.m. for Ramsey Lama, an avid mountain biker and Salida resident who sustained a life-threatening injury while riding Monarch Crest in August.

Local Teen, Riley Donavan, Named One of State Youth Brand Ambassadors

Salida High School senior Riley Donavan has been named one of the state’s youth ambassadors as Gov. Hickenlooper’s office seeks to re-brand Colorado in the most collaborative branding initiative ever undertaken by a state.

New Columbine Trail is Focus of Next SMT Shindig Saturday, July 13

Salida Mountain Trails will be working once again on the new Columbine Trail! Work will get under way at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. To get to the meeting spot, take US Highway 50 east toward Canon City. At County Road 101, turn right and follow the road to the cattle guard/parking lot and kiosk. Salida Invents New Sport: River + biking

Locals and tourists alike were enthralled when local bikers invented a new sport tonight at the boat ramp on the Arkansas River.

River biking’s first big star is 28-year-old Trout Unlimited field coordinator and blogger Jason Willis who nailed the first-ever bike flip into the Arkansas in a move that some witnesses said they hope could be the precursor to a new FIBArk event.
