Water Yoga, Adult Stroke Clinic, Kayak Roll and Youth Water Games add excitement to pool programming

The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center is open, warm and inviting! We are so excited to be back in business and serving our patrons.

Friday morning Water Yoga with Nancy Powers

Everybody could use more flexibility in their lives, but that can be hard to find amid daily task and responsibilities. Start with the one thing you truly have control over:yourself! Join Aqua Yoga certified teacher Nancy Powers for a warm, relaxing and invigorating start to your day. Poses can be adapted to all levels of flexibility and fitness. Classes are held weekly on Fridays, 7 – 8 am, at the Aquatic Center. $5, punch passes and memberships with the fitness add-on are also accepted.

Wild Water Games

Kids, do you love to play in the pool? Join Salida Recreation for an hour of water games. Swimmers and non-swimmers are welcome, but students need to be comfortable in chest-deep water. This is not a swimming lesson, but we will get our faces wet! We’ll play old favorites along with new games! Bring a towel and goggles if you have them. This class will run for four Fridays, beginning November 14 and ending December 12, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Each class is $5, or register for all 4 for only $16. No class on November 28.

Adult Stroke Technique Clinic

Whether you are an experienced lap swimmer training for a big event, or a newer lap swimming trying to become more fit, Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center has a training clinic for you. Beginning Tuesday, November 18, through December 16, from 6:30 – 7:30 am, Aquatic Center coach Ashley Delarue will coach newer lap swimmers who wish to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their stroke technique. This clinic is separate from the regularly occurring Adult Coached Swim, which now runs on Tuesday and Thursdays at 6:30 am, and focuses more on high intensity training for those who are already experienced lap swimmers. To sign up for the 5 week course, please call 539-6738, or stop by the Aquatic Center at 410 W Hwy 50. The cost is $30 for all 5 weeks.

Kayak Roll Mondays

With the Aquatic Center reopened, Mondays from 7 – 9 pm are once again Kayak Roll nights at the pool. Every Monday with the exception of the last 2 weeks of December, the pool will be turned over to colorful plastic boats! Please bring your own gear. No formal instruction is provided, but we often have some resident experts who are more than willing to share their knowledge. This is a great place to get comfortable in your boat and practice paddling around. Kids who can pass the swim test are welcome with an adult. The fee is $8 to drop in.
