Jimmy Descant’s Deluxe Rocketships at Jailhouse Arts

Jimmy Descant, the Rocketman from Salida, bills himself as a ‘Severe ReConstructivist’ on his tearing apart and rebuilding the tools of human existence from the golden age of American manufacturing. He sees the details in the parts that anonymous craftsmen drafted and put into production, and uses these past visions to create a futurism that has yet to appear. As a credo, his rocketships neither contain or depict guns, bullets, or bombs but his Western style of assemblage may to reflect out societal situation. Having moved from New Orleans to Salida 7 years ago, Jimmy has been affected by the West he’s loved for decades and creates a new assemblage style of depictions of warriors and native strength that may be the Great Spirit pilots of the rocketships. Jimmy says he is not JUST the Rocketman, but a performance artist, Cajun, and an arts activist among many others aspects.

Thanks to the Citizen in support of the arts and artists. This will be my premier exhibit in BV after all these years, and glad to coordinate with the great inspirational artist Brynn Ronning in this show; along with the glass artist Brice Turnbull doing demos all day on March 7, and beyond!
