CSFS Nursery Manager Josh Stolz says Colorado-grown species are adaptable, hardy and ideal for a variety of conservation uses.

I am very excited to share with Salida the experience of my painted trees. These trees made their debut back in 2005 on Tenderfoot Mountain, during which time I denied any involvement, yet enjoyed the anonymity of creating these pieces I also took pleasure in seeing folks finding their own delight and personal ownership with them.

The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County will be presenting a public forum to discuss “An Overview of Behavioral Health Issues in Chaffee County” on Monday, Nov. 17 at 12:00 at the Methodist Church at 228 East 4th St. in Salida.
The Mixer’s featured guests artist this month is Sibyl Teague, whose exhibition, “Storyteller”, currently is on display in the Paquette Gallery through November.

This Saturday the 8th come support the Salida School Garden and join us to pick your own carrots and onions! From 10-11:30am, community members are invited to join Guidestone at the Salida School Garden on Holman Ave for a pick-your-own carrot and onion picking party. Onions will be $1/lb and carrots, $2/lb. Please bring your own bag or box to bring home your bounty!

Nelson began creating collages after a close artist friend died and left her entire collection of papers and supplies to Nelson. In her collages, Nelson combines the papers she inherited with her own past work, fabric, old photographs, sewing and other embellishments to tell a visual story, make an ethical statement, or recall her own family history.

Bill will discuss techniques that can be used by both private landowners and public land managers to deal with beaver conflicts. There are a variety of techniques available to address problems caused by beavers that would prevent direct killing of the animals. He will also talk about the natural history of beavers and some of the benefits they provide to our local ecosystems.

The Salida Creative District will host the next Creative Monday “The Visual Advantage:Pinterest & Instagram Basics,” November 10, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the SteamPlant Event Center. The class will be taught by Lauren Swanson and will cover the visually based social media platforms, Pinterest and Instagram.
Sibyl Teague has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan, and has recently received a MA in art/printmaking from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado.
