Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science Dec. 3
Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science Release for Dec. 3, 2023:
“Common causes of hip and knee pain” will be the topic of the Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science program for Dec. 3. Dr. Henry Yu will emphasize the role of osteoarthritis in these maladies and steps to treat them. The program begins at 10 a. m. at the Scout Hut, 210 E. Sackett St., Salida, CO.
Dr. Yu will review the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and provide details on how they can be treated at home as well as when it’s time to see a specialist. Specializing in adult reconstruction, Dr. Yu focuses on patients with hip and knee pain caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis who require replacement surgery. His practice includes direct anterior hip replacements, minimally invasive total knee replacements, and robotic-assisted knee replacements. A sub-specialty is providing joint revision work for patients who've had knee or hip work and need a slight upgrade as they age.
Following his graduation from the University of Colorado in 2000, Denver native Dr. Yu moved to Breckenridge where he worked as a ski instructor and patroller in the winter and EMT instructor in the summer. His work introduced him to orthopedic trauma which led to his enrollment in Loyola University’s medical school in 2012 followed by a University of Colorado orthopedic residency. A fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery was the next step in his professional development.
Central Colorado Humanists sponsor Sunday Science on the first Sunday of each month. Each presentation is informative and features a science topic that is understandable by both scientists and non-scientists. The doors open at 9:30 a. m., admission is free, and the public is welcome. Please join us.
