The year is 1995. The place: Athens, Ohio. Meet Agnes Evans, a young woman who now teaches at her local high school, but when she was in her senior year wished for her life to be exciting; one week later Agnes’ family was killed in a car wreck.
Now wishing she had taken the time to get to know her little sister, Agnes goes looking for a way to connect to Tilly. While cleaning out Tilly’s room with her boyfriend, Miles, Agnes discovers Tilly’s Dungeons and Dragon’s module. (What is Dungeons and Dragons? It is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game that originated in 1974. Teenagers are still playing this in their basements throughout the land today). And the module serves as a kind of guide to successfully navigate one’s way through an adventure.
With her sister’s module in hand, Agnes bravely decides to take on the unknown: she decides to play the game. By embarking on the quest for “the lost soul of Athens” Agnes will be united with Tilly, as well as Tilly’s friends, and will start to learn just who her sister really was. Agnes will face many challenges along the way: she will be forced to face her demons and…to kill the monsters.
