The Salida Council for the Arts will hold its monthly Creative Mixer on Thursday, March 12 at 5:30 pm in the Salida SteamPlant. All area artists, writers, musicians, art lovers and community members are invited to come socialize, catch up on the latest, and network on a casual basis. The event is free and open to the public.

Featured guest artists this month are Salida ceramic artist Mark Rittmann and glass blower Brice Turnbull, whose collaborative show "A Moment In Time" will be on display through March in the SteamPlant's Paquette Gallery. Celebrating the beauty of Chinese and Japanese Gardens, the unique two-man exhibition is designed to impart a sense of tranquility, peace and timelessness.

The Creative Mixer's featured musician is Salida singer/songwriter Elisha Lynn MacArthur, who performs nationally under the name "ELM". Noted for music described as "Celtic rooted folk fusion", ELM plays rockin' fiddle and guitar; has released a new CD titled "Darkness Made Light Known"...and in summer is a career rafting guide on the Arkansas River.

In addition to music and art, the Creative Mixer also offers free hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, and the perennial favorite "soapbox", where everyone is invited to stand up and share news and announcements of interest to the crowd.
