Colo. Symphony Brass Ensemble performs in Salida March 19
"TOP BRASS!", the third concert of the 2014-15 Colorado Symphony season in Salida, will be Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 pm in the Salida SteamPlant. Performing an exciting program of varied classics--ranging from Bach to the Beatles--will be the celebrated Colorado Symphony Brass Ensemble.
The five-member Ensemble will showcase its versatility and musical depth with selections ranging from Claude Debussy's haunting "Claire De Lune" to Percy Grainger's "Irish Tune from County Derry". The evening's program will open with the stirring "Also Sprach Zarathustra Fanfare" by Richard Strauss, and include works by J.S. Bach, Gustav Holst, Richard Wagner, Giacomo Puccini, Victor Ewald and many more.
Members of the Colorado Symphony Brass Ensemble slated to appear include headliners Justin Bartels (Principal Trumpet), Steve Kilburn (2nd/Assistant Principal Trumpet), Michael Thornton (Principal Horn), Paul Naslund (2nd/Associate Principal Trombone), and Stephen Dombrowski (Principal Tuba). Salida currently is the only city outside of Denver chosen to be honored with regular performances by the Colorado Symphony.
Advance tickets may be purchased now at a 10% discount ($18 each) at the SteamPlant box office, Salida Chamber of Commerce, or SymphonicSalida.org. Last-minute tickets will be $20 at the door (students $10)...but the previous Salida Symphony performance was a standing-room-only sellout, so advance purchase is recommended. Doors open at 7 pm; and concertgoers are urged to arrive early for assured seating at this popular event.
This third annual Colorado Symphony season at the SteamPlant--featuring "World-class music at a small-town price"--is presented by Symphonic Salida and KHEN Community Radio. The grand finale of the current four-concert series will be an eagerly anticipated "surprise performance" on June 28. For more information, visit SymphonicSalida.org.
