Salida Heritage Days kicks off THIS weekend!
Celebrating Salida's fascinating history, Salida Heritage Days begins this weekend with events scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
FRIDAY
5-7 p.m. Kick-off concert at 146 TaphouseLive music by Bonnie Culpepper. Costumed characters from Salida's past (including Madam Laura Evans, Harriet Alexander, Governor Hunt, Byrd Fuqua, and Marshal Baxter Stingley). A performance by the Starlettes. More! Free.
7-10 p.m. Costume Party & Concert (the 1950s and earlier suggested). Music by Bonnie Culpepper & the Riff-Raff (Chris Nasca & Bruces Hayes). Free.
SATURDAY
12 - 4 p.m.Costumed characters from Salida's past roam downtown, including Madam Laura Evans, Marshal Baxter Stingley, Harriet Alexander, Byrd Fuqua, and Governor Alexander Hunt
1 p.m. Presentation on local ski history with Dr. Vandenbusche, sponsored by Monarch Mountain, at Victoria Tavern. Free.
**4-7:30 p.m.An evening of cowboy music **with Bob Bovee at Hutchinson Homestead & Learning Center. Includes a tour of the homestead and cowboy appetizers. $20 for adults, $10 for children. Tickets www.guidestonecolorado.org
SUNDAY
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Community picnic (bring your own everything). Costumes encouraged! Family-friendly games (sack races, three-legged races, and more), pie baking contest, and live music.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tin-type pop-up photography by Tim Brown at Salida Palace Hotel. $39-$49
