Salida Creativity Lab presents the 4th annual Lunar New Year: Asia Fest 2020, a festival that celebrates Asian culture! Make a dragon, enter the art show, join the parade!
ASIA FEST 2020 Activities:
STUDENT ART SHOW at Fun Street Arcade! Students K-12 can enter the art show and win prizes! All work will be displayed. Make a piece of art with an Asian theme, turn it into the Arcade by Jan 31. Judging and viewing Feb 3-9. Prizes for different age groups. Winners announced after the Parade Feb 8. More info at Salida Creativity Lab on Facebook.
ORIGAMI Workshop at the Boys & Girls Club, Tuesday, Jan 28; 4:30-5:30pm
FREE DRAGON-MAKING WORKSHOPS at the Box of Bubbles. Get your dragon team together and come make a dragon for the parade! Your group needs at least 2 sessions- the first to construct and paper mache, the 2nd to paint and decorate. Jan 29, 31, and Feb 7; 6-7:30pm.
DRAGON PARADE! Saturday February 8. Join over 200 students and community artists that have been constructing dragons throughout the month of January. Appearance by Salida Circus and Salida Middle School Grove Battalion. Meet at Alpine Park at 2:00pm; Parade leaves ~2:15pm, and travels to Riverside Park. Art Show awards announced, and a very special performance by Colorado Asian Cultural Heritage Center Dragon & Lion Dance Team from Denver immediately after the parade! Riverside Park. Free!
ASIAN FUSION DISCO LOUNGE. Adult event. Dress-up, heavy Asian fusion appetizers catered by Little Cambodia, program by Colorado Asian Cultural Heritage Center Dragon & Lion Association, dj and dancing. Cash bar available.
