A Benefit for Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County
An Evening of Broadway Hits and Jazz Featuring Jody Ashworth and Amy Wight
$12adv $14 door
Amy Wight and Jody Ashworth are excited to be in Salida, performing to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chaffee County. BGCCC provides programming to more than 750 kids each year. The Club is the most vital youth development organization in Chaffee County, focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles and leadership programs for kids ages 6 to 18. About 43% of the Club’s funding comes from generous local community members with the remainder coming from foundations and state grants.
Both Amy and Jody have a passion for theater and singing and a rich history of community service.
Ms. Wight’s jazz style is a synthesis of a myriad musical influences from Billie Holiday to Peggy Lee and from Ella Fitzgerald to Mama Cass. Amy likes to say she’s been singing practically since birth—and growing up in a musical family made that easy. From singing show tunes to joining in on multiple-part harmony on country & western, gospel, and folk classics, music has always been an important part of her life. Being raised in Community Theater instilled a love for Broadway show tunes. A former member of one of the oldest a cappella groups in the nation, the Wellesley Widows, Amy has enjoyed entertaining crowds from Boston to Washington, D.C. to Padova, Italy.
Jody Ashworth has performed on stages from Lincoln Center to the Hollywood Bowl with personalities from Sir Anthony Hopkins to Roger Daltrey, and Bill Murray. Jody received an MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University, appearing on such stages as the Goodspeed Opera House, Baltimore Center Stage, and Theatre Under the Stars in Houston. He has performed in over 80 productions, and has performed on television and in films including Guiding Light, Sex and the City and Serendipity. Additionally, Mr. Ashworth has showcased his vocal talents on recording projects with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for which he received Gold and Double-Platinum sales awards.
