Online registration available for FIBArk volunteers, athletes and parade entries

Volunteers, athletes and parade participants for the annual FIBArk Whitewater Festival are encouraged to register online at The 67th annual FIBArk event is set for June 18-21 in downtown Salida.

Several hundred volunteers are needed to assist in many different capacities, helping with everything from beer tent duties to merchandise sales and athlete registration. Volunteers with river related experience are especially needed this year.Shifts are usually just a couple of hours and it’s a perfect way for businesses, clubs, organizations or individuals to see friends, neighbors and greet out of town guests FIBArk organizers said.

To ease the volunteer registration process, FIBArk has created an online system that lists specific days, duties and times. The volunteer registration page is available at or they may call FIBArk board member Terry Deveney at 293-3333. All volunteers will receive a special FIBArk volunteer T-shirt.

In addition to registering to volunteer at, athletes and parade entries may do the same at the website. Each year almost 800 athletes participate in FIBArk events.FIBArk organizers are trying to get as many athletes as possible to register in advance on the website to cut down on congestion and wait times at the boathouse and hopefully will be a smoother process.

Each year since 1949 there has been a FIBArk parade. Sponsored by Moltz Construction the theme of this year’s parade is “Freedom.” The parade begins at 10 a.m. on June 20 with its traditional route along F Street.
