Cheryl Brown-Kovacic for City Council: Advocate for Fair and Affordable Housing

edited August 2015 in Opinion

As Cheryl Brown-Kovacic has gone door-to-door canvassing as a Ward 2 City Council candidate, she has heard from her neighbors about the need for fair and affordable housing. Listening to their stories, I also observed Cheryl gaining new perspectives about the impact rising real estate prices and vacation rentals have on housing options, as well as the impact vacation rentals have on residents’ sense of community.

Like Cheryl, many of us love Salida because of its friendly community and small-town atmosphere. Cheryl wants to maintain reasoned and balanced approaches as she researches and develops strategies to preserve that robust sense of community. Cheryl welcomes your ideas.

I believe Cheryl will utilize her background and experience from the Salida Planning Commission, the Chaffee County Roundtable for Land Use, the League of Women Voters Leadership Team, and as City Treasurer, to collaboratively lead and build solutions to this critical housing issue in this wonderful place we all call home. A vote for Cheryl Brown-Kovacic for City Council in Ward 2 is a vote for “finding solutions for fair and affordable housing, shaping a collaborative and caring community, and strengthening Salida’s future”.
