SALIDA CREATIVE MIXER IS THURS. SEPT. 10
This month's "Creative Mixer" will be Thursday, Sept. 10 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery. Sponsored by Salida Council for the Arts, this popular monthly gathering is a casual setting for area artists, writers, musicians, and other creatives to meet, network, and socialize. Everyone interested in the visual or performing arts is invited to attend this free event.
The Mixer's featured guest artist this month is Jimmy Sellars, whose exhibition of new mixed-media works--titled "The Mountain Brought Forth A Mouse"--is on display in the Paquette Gallery through September. Sellars' work has been exhibited and published in numerous countries around the world, and is included in a variety of corporate and private collections. Says Sellars, "This show is a visual diary of my last year in Salida. Like a river, each image serves as a reference to a moment in time that informs the next."
Featured musician will be 17-year-old Salida ukulele prodigy Sunny Tingler. This remarkable young musician started out with a toy instrument that she received for Christmas and grew from there. Skilled at both ukulele and guitar, Sunny plays mostly covers but has written 75 songs that she plans on recording eventually.
Free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; as will the popular "soapbox" where anyone can stand up and make announcements of interest. Salida Council for the Arts is an all-volunteer organization working for the betterment of the arts, artists and community of Salida. For more information visit salidacouncilforthearts.org
