$1,000 MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS BEING OFFERED
One of the musical rites of summer in Chaffee County is the Salida Aspen Concerts student scholarship program.
Music students in Chaffee County are encouraged to apply for two $1000 scholarships being offered again from Salida Concerts Inc., the nonprofit organization that produces the Salida Aspen Concerts series every summer at Salida High School auditorium.
As in past years, the application can be obtained from high school counselors and private music teachers, or can be downloaded from the Concerts website: http://www.SalidaAspenConcerts.org/Scholarship-Program .
Two scholarships, each worth $1000, will be offered this year.
To be considered, students must have graduated from high school, or will be graduating at the end of this school year, and be college bound where music will be a significant part of their course of study. Students from Chaffee County already enrolled in college and studying music are also eligible to apply.
Deadline for applications is May 1.
Student winners of this year’s scholarship competition will be invited to a concert and presented with their award on stage. This year’s concerts have been scheduled for July 9, 16, 26, 30, Aug. 6 and Aug. 13. Also, if appropriate, the winners may be asked to perform briefly.
