The Salida Council for the Arts will hold its monthly Creative Mixer on Thursday, April14 at 5:30 pm in the Salida SteamPlant. All area artists, writers, musicians, art lovers, and community members are invited to come socialize, catch up on the latest, and network on a casual basis. The event is free and open to the public.

Featured guest artist this month is well known Salida painter Fred Hubicki, whose oil paintings of familiar Arkansas Valley scenes and Rocky Mountain landscapes are prized by Salida locals as well as collectors around the country. Fred's show of new plein-air works will be on display through April 30 in the SteamPlant's Paquette Gallery.

The Creative Mixer's featured musician will be Salida's popular Chapman Stick player, composer, and recording artist Dave Tipton. Dave will be playing selections from his CDs, "Residue" and "Elevation", which showcase melodic interpretations of classics ranging from folk to jazz, traditional to new age.

In addition to music and art, the Creative Mixer also offers free hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, and the perennial favorite "soapbox", where everyone is invited to stand up and share news and announcements of interest to the crowd.
