This month's Salida "Creative Mixer" is Thursday, May 12 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery. Sponsored by Salida Council for the Arts, this popular social gathering is where local artists, writers, musicians, art lovers and community members meet and network on a casual basis.

As always, the event is free and open to the public.

Featured guest this month will be nationally noted multimedia artist Roberta Smith, whose captivating exhibition, "My Dogged Dreams", will remain on display through May in the Paquette Gallery. The show's whimsical new works, says Smith--a Salida resident and first-time "doggy mom"--are all about "dogs and aliens".

Featured musicians will be "nth Degree"--a singer/songwriter duo composed of Deb Needell on woodwinds and bass, and Bill Needell on guitar. The two perform original compositions about love, nature and philosophy, plus unique acoustic arrangements of standard rock, country, and popular songs.

Free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; as will the perennial favorite "soapbox" where everyone is invited to stand up and make announcements of community interest.
