This month's Salida "Creative Mixer" is Thursday, June 9 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery. Sponsored by the Salida Council for the Arts, this popular event is a way for community members to meet and socialize with a focus on art and music.

Featured artist this month will be Hannelore Gabriel, whose exhibit "Round Works" features multimedia assemblages that artfully combine paint, metal, wood, and paper. Gabriel's show will remain on display in the Paquette Gallery throughout June.

Featured musician will be accordionist and award-winning artist Jim "J.C." Maxon. A former gallery owner and archeologist, Maxon performs accordion music and exhibits watercolors, pastels, and photography at galleries and shows throughout the country.

As always, the Mixer is free and open to the public. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; as will the popular "soapbox" attraction, where everyone is welcome to stand up and make announcements of community interest.

Salida Council for the Arts is an all-volunteer organization working for the enrichment of the arts, artists, and community of Salida. For more information visit
