Everyone's invited to this month's Salida "Creative Mixer", Thursday July 14 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery. Sponsored by the Salida Council for the Arts, this popular event is a way for community members to meet and socialize with a focus on art and music.

Special at this month's Mixer will be announcement of the Council's first Community Grant awards for local creative projects.

Featured guest artists will be the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists--a diverse group of artists and collectors dedicated to the practice and perpetuation of botanical art and illustration, with a focus on plants in the Rocky Mountain Region. Their group show, "Botanica", will be on display in the SteamPlant's Paquette Gallery throughout July and August.

Featured musician will be guitarist/composer Mark Rostenko, whose song "Billy (Off the Line)" just won First Place in American Songwriter Magazine's May/June 2016 Lyric Contest. Mark is a former "Wall Street guy" and writer who moved to a Colorado mountain cabin to live a simpler life. There he rediscovered his passion for music, and now writes and performs deeply authentic and emotional songs...and a few "rockers" as well.

Free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; and everyone's invited to use the Mixer's "soapbox" time to make announcements of interest to the crowd.
