Creative Mixer is Thur. Feb. 12
The Salida Council for the Arts will hold its monthly Creative Mixer on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 pm in the Salida SteamPlant, 220 W. Sackett Ave. The popular gathering provides a forum for area artists, writers, musicians, art lovers and community members to socialize, catch up on the latest, and network on a casual basis. The event is free and open to the public.
Featured guest musician this month is retired symphony cellist Kenneth Dellenbaugh. Kenneth played professionally in the Scottsdale and Mesa AZ symphonies, and recently relocated to Salida from Creede. Featured art is the Richard Cabe visual artist collection--which evolved from the late Salida economist/sculptor's interest in assembling pieces from as many different area artists as possible. Richard aimed to represent the richness of Salida's visual art tradition, and encourage the community to appreciate its diversity and creativity. The collection will remain on display through February in the Paquette Gallery.
The Creative Mixer also offers free hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, and the perennial favorite "soapbox", where everyone is invited to stand up and share news and announcements of interest to the crowd.
