Don't Crush Salida Thanks Supporters

The County Commissioners will be meeting this week to hear the contentious debate on whether to approve or deny the application by former Commissioner Frank Holman and ACA Products for a proposed gravel mine on CR 140.

The non profit organization, Don’t Crush Salida, would like to take this opportunity to thank the over 1,100 people who have signed the petition to stop the proposed land use change from rural agriculture to heavy industry from becoming a reality here in one of the most beautiful places in America. Your voices have meant so much to all of us – your letters of encouragement, phone calls of advice and insight, your fears, your knowledge of key players, your willingness to help and your financial contributions. Your outpouring of support has been outstanding and it truly does show that collectively we can, and hopefully will, make a difference for Chaffee County as a whole.

The meetings this week are as follows:

Monday, June 19th at 5:30: Staff Report and Presentation by the Applicant.

Tuesday, June 20th at 5:30: Testimony and Evidence from the Public, Response by the Applicant and potential deliberation by the County Commissioners.

Wednesday, June 21st at 5:30: IF NECESSARY, continued testimony and deliberation.

These meetings will all be held at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds, 10165 County Road 120, Poncha Springs.

For those of you who are opposed to this application please come to the meeting on Tuesday and show the Commissioners that you want your voices heard and your presence felt.

Please take a few minutes today to visit our website www.dontcrushsalida.org where you will find information, research and reasons why this application should not be approved.

Thank you again to each and every one of you who supported this pursuit of doing the right thing for Chaffee County.
